Erlene attended St. Mary's Academy in Austin, TX. She was married to Mr. O. Neill Sumner. Their loving marriage lasted 33 years before his passing.
Erlene worked in sales for the Wall Street Journal, within the Mortgage Industry, and Walmart Pharmacy. She had a strong passion for reading, completing word puzzles, and going out country dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O. Neill Sumner; her parents, Gregory H. and Elizabeth M. Lopez; her son, Tony Villasana III; her sister, Elizabeth Jean Pawelek; and her brother, Gilbert Lopez.
She is survived by her six loving children, Carmen E. Garcia, E. Grace Young, Judy E. Henson & husband Howard Henson, Gregory E. Villasana, Halane E. Hollin, Tracy T. Schuster, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Erlene will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home at Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068. with a rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 18511 Klein Church Rd, Spring, TX 77379. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 12:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
In remembrance of Erlene Sumner’s life and love the family asks that a charitable donation be made to St. Jude Child Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
Following the committal service, the family would like to invite you to a small reception held at the church social hall.
