Eric Tyrone Walker was born August 10, 1972 to the proud parents of Robert and Otha Walker. He was the 11th of 12 children of this blessed union. Eric Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Otha Lee Walker, sisters Dora Jones and Robbie Kyles, and brothers Howard, Gregory, and Robert Charles Walker.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of thirteen years, Sharetta Allen-Walker, stepchildren Isaiah Bryant, Crystal Bryant, and Amiya Durall. His beautiful daughter Tericka Rene Walker and granddaughter Raynelle Rene Parker. Brothers Anthony and Michael Walker (Natasha), and sisters Kathleen McElroy (Albert), Lenda Henry (James), Kimberly Walker Jerrels, and Trudy Walker Green a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Tyrone received his early education from Shadydale Elementary, B.C. Elmore Middle School and graduated in the Class of 1990 from Forest Brook High School. After which he enlisted and served four years in the United States Navy. Tyrone accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Gospel Hill Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He later attended Christian Ministry Church under the leadership of Apostle Sandra Hall.
Anyone who truly know Tyrone, know he had a heart of gold and a heart to serve. He worked beside his daddy as a teenager and was instilled the value of working, being on time, being dependable, and learning to serve. Tyrone was our lifeline as he gave up everything to care for daddy until his departure. We cannot be more grateful for the sacrifice he made. He took that gift of serving and caring to the halls of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he worked over ten years in the Food Service department. Tyrone was loved, respected, and cherished by his Co-workers who have had nothing but kind words and praises about who he was and how he was as an employee. We loved that Tyrone found great joy and peace in serving so many, even when his health was not the best.
Tyrone was a true character. When we were together, we would laugh until tears flowed, sing songs (some of which we made up), listen to good ‘old school’ music, but we could never get him to dance. His was kindhearted and loved hard. He could really cook and enjoyed it. So we celebrate the best of what Tyrone offered. We celebrate his smile, we celebrate his laugh, we celebrate his journey. He starred in the face of his sickness and hurt and said, “No without a Fight. He was empowered to fight well and fight to win. So, we rejoice in knowing that when Tyrone called out to God, God answered. Come unto me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). Happiness is in the heart and not in the circumstances. Tyrone is happy now. Rest well. We will cherish your memory forever.
