Emma Jean Wilkerson, born August 1, 1920 to Wade and Maude Piper in Paducah, Kentucky, passed away January 8, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Emma grew up in Salem, Illinois, where she met and married her husband, Henry Luther “Luke” Wilkerson, on March 17, 1944.
Emma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 54 years, and by eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Davis and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Samantha E. and Ashley E. Davis; great-grandchild, Emma A. Davis; special family member, David Klingler; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.
Emma was an artist who loved to paint for her family and friends, and was also an avid gardener who was very proud of her beautiful gardens around her home. She was a very strong, independent lady and had a deep faith in God. Emma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a kind, loving person who will be greatly missed by everyone who has been blessed by her generous spirit.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Heights Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Garden of Memories, Houston, Texas.
