Emma Anne Drake returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 31, 2015, cradled in the arms of her loving parents. Emma, a twin, was born prematurely on October 31, 2015 – a little Halloween pumpkin weighing just 1 lb. 13 oz. Emma was born with her mother’s golden blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. During her brief but precious life here on Earth, Emma’s tiny feet left footprints in many hearts with her brave and fighting spirit.
She faced several health challenges since birth – but she loved to be held close to her mother and father. She was able to experience holding hands, listening as her parents and grandparents sang to her, talked to her, prayed for her, and continuously expressed their love for her. She brought joy to her family, who learned from her what God’s love and grace truly mean through her sweet and special spirit. Emma’s family is forever grateful that families can be together forever and that she is theirs. They look forward to the day when they will see her again and wrap their arms around her.
Emma is survived by her parents, Ryan Philip and Elizabeth Dixie Drake, and her twin sister Amelia Dixie, all of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her grandparents, Phillip and Kathleen Drake from Mason, Ohio and Randy and RoAnn Rupp of Milton, Georgia; and by many loving great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The Drake family wishes to thank from the bottom of their heart the wonderful nurses and medical team at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital who devotedly cared for Emma and continues to care for her sister Amelia. They also wish to thank their many kind and generous family and friends who have supported them.
A celebration of Emma’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1101 Bering Drive, Houston, Texas. Internment will be in Cumming, Georgia.
