Elizabeth Martin led a long and fulfilling life surrounded by who and what she enjoyed most…Family. She grew up in a loving family who knew and loved the Lord. During her teen years her father was called into ministry as a pastor and missionary. She was very active in Church early on. She played the piano, taught Sunday school, and even helped her dad memorize scripture on car rides and long trips.
She met her husband William H. Martin in 1950 through a mutual friend. On the first few dates she would only meet him at church functions. They married 2 months later and were happily married for 55 years and raised 2 daughters.
She worked as a medical secretary for a family doctor for 12 years and sold Avon.
She was the most loving, kind, generous, and faith filled woman in all of our lives. She loved the Lord and was an excellent example of her Christian faith and relationship with God.
She was very intuitive to the point her children and grands thought she either had eyes in the back of her head or could read minds…
She loved to travel, the outdoors, gardening, and animals. She also enjoyed planning and organizing all things in her home and life. Everything had a place and would know if anything was not exactly where it should be.
Four years after she became a widow she moved to Arlington, Texas to live with her daughter Dolores and son-in-law Terry. She lived with them for the remainder of her life. She passed with Dolores, Terry Lee and granddaughter Stephanie by her side.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by William Henry Martin husband of 55 years; and Brother B C “Buddy” Wilkens Jr. She is survived by daughters Linda Sue (Bobby) Morris and Dolores Jean (Terry Lee) Bevell; and 6 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
