June was born to Cecil York and Zela Azbell, July 19, 1928, in Groesbeck, TX. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1946. She married Charles P. Murphy (Charlie) in 1950, and they lived together first in Houston, then in Pasadena and lastly in Huntsville. Together they raised 2 daughters, Parnella and Patty.
June is survived by her daughters Parnella Murphy (Craig), and Patty Murphy and her grandson, Jake Morris (Abby), and her great grandchildren, Caleb, Jonathan, and Rosie Morris. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Zela McLean, (mother), Cecil York, (father) and Charlie Murphy, (husband).
June worked as a bookkeeper and also a housewife for most of her adult life. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, traveling, and gardening among other things. She was involved in her later years with Red Hat Society for Women.
A service is scheduled for Monday, November 6, 2023, 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Tim Oleksy will officiate the ceremony. The family requests that any donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. The family would also like to thank Carolyn with Oasis Hospice and Dr. Karin Olsen for caring for our mother.
