Edwina Edith Webster passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Whether you knew Edwina lovingly as ‘Meme,’ ‘Bunches,’ or ‘Nana,’ you know how amazingly feisty and strong she was.
Born to Dot Sylvia Stafford and James Ross Solomon, on January 17, 1936, Edwina grew up being an adventurous tomboy. She spent her adult years raising chihuahuas, ensuring her yard in the Heights was immaculate, working word search puzzles that quite literally kept her mind aged like a 40-year-old until her passing, and helping raise nearly each of her grandchildren at some point in their life.
She also gave generously to various charities, such as televised churches, children’s hospitals, several cancer research charities, as well as animal rescues. She was giving, loving, and ever so independent.
She is predeceased by both of her parents, husband Joe Webster, daughter Louise Eve, sons George Webster and Sheldon ‘Scott’ Mitchell, sister, Blanche Marshall, brothers James Solomon and Burke Solomon.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Calvin Webster, Ashley Lopez, Scott Mitchell, Lavella Webster-Delgado and Christina Montalban, as well as many great grandchildren, her niece Sylvia Latiolais and great niece Mae Discher, all of whom she loved with her entire heart.
Meme lived a full life and made an impact on all who had the gift of meeting her.
Burial will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N. Main Street, Houston, Texas 77009. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your most respected charity, just as Meme would have done.
