Duc Tan Vo

Duc was born on June 20, 1942 in Cambodia and proved to be a fearless and self-assured man from the start – there was never a challenge in life too big that he was not willing to accept and take head-on. One of Duc’s proudest accomplishments was his time spent in the Navy where he took on the role of navigating naval ships. After the Vietnam war and the fall of Saigon, this role is what facilitated his ability to successfully navigate a boat full of refugees safely to a refugee camp in Thailand where he and his wife, Hoang-Oanh resided for a year before immigrating to the United States in 1977. Although Duc and Oanh came to the United States with very little, it was Duc’s entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering fortitude that served as the foundation to the success of several of the businesses Duc launched throughout his life. It was this quality that Duc leveraged to pave a path of security for his growing family in an unfamiliar country.

While Duc was a jack-of-all-trades in life, it was the sound of music that really made Duc light up. To know Duc, was to know his love of music. It coursed through his veins and he could always be found singing around the house, tapping along to music in the car, and if there was a dance floor nearby, well, he would be on it as the life of the party. He had an extensive music collection that expanded across all genres. Along with music, Duc had a passion for photography. In addition, Duc was also a fearless adventurer and loved to ski, sky-dive, and travel around the world. Duc was known for his commanding personality, versatility, and abundant life stories.

Duc is survived by his wife, Hoang-Oanh. He is also survived by his daughters, June Vo and husband Duc Tran, Truc Aldridge and husband Jason, three grandchildren and his sisters, Kieu Tien Du and Tuyet Hong Vo. A private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to The Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Duc Tan Vo.
