DOUGLAS ALAN BRACE passed away Jan 25, 2012 in Houston, TX. He was born Feb 2, 1925 in Flint MI, served in the Army Air Corps, returned to Saginaw and married Camille Thomas, the love of his life, in 1950. He then joined his brother Ken at Humble Oil in Houston where he worked at his second love as a pilot and aviation mechanic. He retired from Exxon Aviation in 1986 to Lake Livingston. He then continued flying small planes with his retired pilot buddies. In 2007, the FAA presented him the Wright Brothers Master Pilot and Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Awards for 50 years of service. Both awards to the same individual is very rare. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Claude & Mildred, his brothers Ken & Larry, and his great granddaughter Isabelle. Doug is survived by his wife of 61 years, Camille; son Tom and wife Sally of Azle, TX, and their children, Jeff & Jessica; son Jim of Houston, and his children, Jason & Kelli; daughter Debbie and husband Jerry DiGulio of League City, and their children, Jamie & Jodi; and son Bill and wife Kelly of Houston; and his great-grandchildren, Whitley, Maggie, Camille, Olivia, Gabrielle, Logan, & Ashtyn. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 29, 2012, 5pm-7pm. The funeral is scheduled for Monday 11am at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations made out to the American Heart Association, 10900-B Stonelake Blvd., Suite 320, Austin, TX 78759.
