Dorothy May Sheppard passed away on September 22, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born in Houston, TX on September 5, 1924 to Evelyn (Van Ness) and Arthur E. Westgate. She married Francis M. Sheppard, Sr. one month after Pearl Harbor, January 6, 1942. They moved to Washington DC where he worked for the FBI. After he enlisted in the Navy, she moved with Frank to San Pedro, CA naval base where he attended radio school. There she worked at Douglas Aircraft as a sheet metal fabricator in the group that became nationally known as “Rosie the riveter”. After he was decommissioned from the USS Elliott, September 21, 1945 Dot, Frank and son Frankie returned to Houston.
She loved being with her large fun-loving extended family, spending many good times together. She also loved bowling and belonged to several leagues, the last one at the Palace Lanes in Bellaire in her later years.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, the love of her life, Francis M. Sheppard, Sr. and her half-sister Mildred Westgate Swett. She is survived by her son, Frank M Sheppard, Jr. and his wife Patricia: her daughter, Patricia Wimberly and husband Larry; her granddaughters: Sheila Antoinette Sheppard and Stephanie Frances Stevenson and husband Tony; her grandsons: Ronald Patrick Wimberly, and Robert Lawrence Wimberly and his wife Heather and her son Nicholas. Four great-grandsons: Lawrence Patrick Wimberly, Jay Franklin Stevenson, Sheppard Anthony Stevenson and Max Joseph Stevenson, also, her sister-in-law, Joanne Sheppard, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
