Dorothy Mae (Burtschel) Richardson, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 2, 2021, after fighting a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Dorothy was married to William “Bill” Richardson for 61 years before his passing on February 12, 2017. Dorothy was a longtime Heights resident and a graduate of Reagan High School. After her marriage, she and her husband Bill moved to Lazybrook where she raised her family and where she continued to reside until 2019. Dorothy was an active member of the Lazbrook Civic Club throughout her residence in Lazybrook as well as an active participant of the Near North Advisory Council of HPD.
Following graduation Dorothy worked for the Farm Credit Bureau. In later years, she worked for the Houston Independent School District first at Waltrip High School and then at Sinclair Elementary School.
Her daughters, Malynda Richardson and Cynthia Richardson, survive her. Family and friends will be received Friday, May 7, 2021 from 5pm – 8pm at Grace United Methodist Church, 1245 Heights Blvd., Houston, Texas 77008. Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:30 am at the Lovett Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas.
