Dorothy is survived by her children, Donald Lee, Cynthia Jean, Heidi Marlene, and Johnny Wayne; and her many grand and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her mother Vivian Underwood; siblings Eveline Cox, Mary Otis Black and Otto Underwood; and husband Justin Lee Pate.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and wife. She was born in East Texas on December 27, 1927 to W.A. Arimond and Vivian White. She graduated from North Central Bible Institute in 1948 with a degree in Theology. She devoted her summer breaks during university to teaching Vacation Bible school throughout the United States. She married Justin Friday, June 16, 1950 after he "zinged her heart". They grew in faith and love together. She was grandmother to anyone who needed or wanted one. Her family was bigger and better because of her.
Dorothy was passionate about a variety of activities. She loved gardening in her yard. She walked extensively every day. She was an avid reader and continued to learn on a variety of subjects. She was always up for an adventure and loved exploring the world around her; frequently visiting the beaches of Galveston, Texas. Just a few weeks ago she hiked the Lake 22 mountain trail in Seattle, Washington.
Dorothy loved God and serving more than anything. She was a faithful member of Glad Tidings Assemblies of God for 44 years, teaching Prims on Wednesday evenings. After retirement, she and Justin spent the next 14 years traveling extensively as RV volunteers for the US MAPS ministry. They also loved volunteering at the Fairfield Children's Home.
Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered through the funeral home.
