My beloved Dorothy.   My father's first cousin  ( two sisters'children).  Of my three sisters she somehow singled me out and as such a special bond was developed.   Oh how fortunate I was and how I miss her.   She was the total package.   Beautiful, classy, smart, humble and full of grace.   We had a special relationship and used to reminisce about our trip to Puerto Rico.   We had such a great time.   Although we lived apart for decades that did not deter our love for each other.   We would talk several times each week.  We understood each other.   Shared similarities.   We were each other's sounding board.    We  left nothing unsaid.   Even though she lived in Texas and I in Florida she could always sense when I was down.   I would get a call. "What's going on with you "   She entertained effortlessly and with grace like the aristocrat that she was.   Everything about her was beautiful.   Back home in Jamaica  she had a gorgeous garden.   She loved roses  and  turned me on to orchids.   Never selfish.   She was always sharing her knowledge.   What a remarkable memory she had.  Her cakes were legendary  (she has passed the mantle down to Christine).   Everyone in Florida looked forward to her delicious Easter buns.   I would constantly be asked  "Did the buns arrive yet "   I  could sense the change in her when Richard passed.    She used to tell me she was ready to join her beloved husband Victor  (who doted on her until the end)    I would tell her that I wasn't ready to let her go.   She was grateful to her church family for being there for Christine.    She knew you would look out for her.   I  pray the angels welcome her with as much joy as the sadness I feel with losing her.    I  know she's resting in God's  loving arms.    Goodbye  my Dorothy until we meet again.  I will forever cherish your memory.  ♥ 🙏

Mama as we fondly call her was a great inspiration for  our church community.  She has great communication skill, good sense of humor and  very coordinated and organized.
Mama is family oriented and shares a lot of great stories of life with family at her early years. She has very good relationship with the children.
Her faith and trust in God was demonstrated when the son had terminal disease and eventually died.  She kept in touch with him and was instrumental to his peaceful final rest. She took his death as the will of God.
I can vividly remember the last time I was with her. As usual, it was an hour of fruitful discussion on life and the need to look up to God and trust Him with all we do. She also talked to my husband on phone and requested he come with me for my next visit. Our plan was to see her 1st week of December. The announcement of her death is devastating to my family and the first instinct is why now? God knows what is best for mama and am happy she peacefully departed and our prayer is for her to Rest In Peace.
