Doris Nell Holley

On April 24, 1937, proud parents Henry Kizzine and Mary Jane Kizzine, welcomed a beautiful baby girl, and lovingly named her Doris Nell Kizzine. She was the second of three daughters born in Panola, Texas. The family relocated to Marshall, Texas where she attended public school and graduated from Pemberton High School. She attended, for a short time at Wiley College and later relocated to Houston, Texas. There she met and married Eather (Teddy) Holley Jr. (Deceased) While attending Texas Southern University, Doris obtained her Master’s Degree in the studies of Education. While attending school she worked, raised, and provided a healthy home environment for her eight children. This was an inspiration to many others throughout the greater Houston area. She was a hardworking woman who dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She retired after 38 years of teaching and inspiring children to greatness from the Houston Independent School District. Doris joined New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She served diligently on the Pastor’s Aide Staff, Usher Board and other auxiliaries within the church until her health began to decline. Her Heavenly Father called her home on May 22, 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Jane Kizzine and sister Mary Louise Kizzine, son Willian Leon Holley Sr. (Lisa Holley), and daughter Ethel Elizabeth Holley. Remaining to cherish her beloved memories is her loving sister Ruby Lois Kizzine, niece Stephanie Louise Parks. Six living children Victor Blaine Kizzine (Shelley Kizzine), Amelia Inez Fontenot (Marvin G. Fontenot) Pastor Charles Edward Kizzine, Mary Katherine Martin (Willie Martin Sr.), Venus Ann Holley and Rodney Earl Holley. Thirteen grandchildren; Dr. Tanaya L. Kizzine, Christina E. Fontenot, Khadijah Washington, Melinda G. Black (Curtis Black), Courtney Y. Bircher (Timothy Bircher) Lauren C. Taylor and Victoria E. Taylor Kizzine, Victor B. Kizzine II, William L. Holley Jr., Natasha N. Howard (Andrew Howard), Veronica C. Harris, seventeen great grandchildren, and Nathaniel Tennyson,, Melvin Harris. She also was best friends, for over 50 years, with Janice and John Coleman, and their daughter Tracey Coleman. She was also best friends with Pensacola Moore. Her favorite cousin was Armarie (Honey) Smith. She also loved and adored many other cousins, relatives, friends and colleagues.
