Don was born on September 21st, 1935 in San Antonio, Tx. and grew up in Haskell, Tx. In 1952, Don suffered a serious head injury during his junior year of high school and through maximum effort and perseverance he completed high school and set out for McMurry College in 1953. While at McMurry, Don achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, but even more importantly, he met the love of his life, Sherry West who would become his bride for the next 54 years until Sherry’s departure to be with the Lord in 2011.
After graduating from college, Don and Sherry eventually moved to Houston and started a family raising two boys, Brett and David. As they grew up and began to play sports, Don invested his time coaching little league baseball, football, and track teaching impactful life lessons and values that made lasting
impressions in young men’s lives.
Don worked for Delta Air Lines for 25 years, winning the prestigious “Feather In Your Cap Award” for above and beyond outstanding customer service. After retiring from Delta, Don served his community as a substitute teacher for the remainder of his professional career investing in the lives of children in the Aldine Independent School District.
Don and Sherry were wonderfully loving and devoted parents who passed along an enduring legacy of faith, love and devotion to God and family which should always be prioritized and honored.
Don was a man who loved the Lord, was full of kindness and humility, and was always ready to give a word of encouragement to anyone who needed it. He never failed to let you know he was ALWAYS in your corner.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry and son, David, mother, Clemice Price Rosenzweig, grandparents, William and Bessie Mae Price and uncle, Bobby Jack Price. He is survived by his son, Brett, daughter-in-law, Mary, sister and brother- in- law, Cherye and Dr. James F. Pierce, Lynn and Kenny Bryant and many other wonderful cousins.
A celebration of Life and Memorial will be held Thursday, October 13th at Earthman Resthaven at 13102 North Freeway with visitation beginning at 11:30 A.M. and Memorial Celebration to begin at 1:30 P.M.
