Dolores Cuellar Ortiz

She was born in New Caney, TX on October 14, 1943. Dolores graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, TX.

She was married to PFC Joe Ortiz, who was killed in action in Vietnam on October 20, 1969.

Dolores worked at United Fence Company and the US Postal Service for over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Allen, her granddaughter, Danielle Saputo, her brother Roy Cuellar (Dora) and sisters Ophelia Starr (James) and Cynthia Cuellar (Rebekah). She is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ortiz, her parents, Jesus and Juanita Cuellar and her brother, Oscar Cuellar.

Dolores (aka, Nana, Lorrie, Lola) was happiest surrounded by family, friends, and celebrations of any kind. She enjoyed spending time playing bingo, visiting casinos, cheering for her beloved Houston Astros and Houston Texans, and watching her favorite soap operas.

Please join us at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX from 3:00-7:00 PM on Monday, January 22nd. Eulogy comments from 5:00-6:00 PM and rosary from 6:00-7:00 PM.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd. Spring, TX at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 23rd followed by a burial service at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX at 1:00 PM.
