Dionisio J Martinez, 80, was born in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico on May 12th, 1942 to Dolores Corpus and Francisco Martinez. He is survived by his dedicated wife Manuela Martinez, sons Juan (Imelda), Francisco (Elizabeth), Miguel, Bernard, Gilbert (Kaela) Martinez and daughters Marcela Ortega
(Rolando), Juanita Martinez (Arthur), Maria Martinez Navarro (Johnny) and Lupe Martinez (Paul),
brothers Adriana and Martin Martinez, sisters Maria Teresa Schaefer, Isabel Martinez, and Martina
Tovar as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Dionisio grew up in San Felipe, GTO, MX and where at a young age he started working at his family’s pottery business. This is where would meet his future wife, Manuela Martinez. They married in May 4, 1963. Not long after, they had daughter Marcela, sons Juan, Francisco, Miguel, Bernard, daughter Juanita. In 1978 he moved to the United Stated and a year later his wife, Manuela, joined him in Houston, TX. USA. In 1980 they had daughter Maria, followed by Lupe and then the baby, Gilbert Martinez. Dionisio worked in different roles, from produce stocker to painter. When he was not working, he was always dressed in his best, carrying his wad of cash and wearing his favorite cologne. After retirement, he enjoyed spending every weekend with his family. Always wanting to pay for diner (rotisserie chicken, rice and salad or the occasional Church’s Chicken), all to get us together. He enjoyed listening to Cornelio Reyna, Cadetes de Linares, and Pedro Infante. His favorite movies, as we all know is anything Cantinflas. As his health declined and was put on dialysis, we were told we would only have him for a couple years, but boy were they wrong. God blessed us with over 10 years of his presence, his smart remarks, his jokes and his continuing love for his family and the Houston Astros. He fought long and hard, all to be with us. Thank you for lasting this long, thank you for the memories you made that we will keep forever. Thank you, mom, Manuela Martinez for being there with him till the very end. To all family and friends who helped, thank you. Until we meet again dad, we love you always and forever.
