Diana Nino Jones was born on June 18, 1953, in Donna, Texas, to Leandro Rodriguez Nino Sr. and Trinidad Ybarra Nino. As a proud 5th generation Texan, Diana was deeply connected to her heritage. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the center of her life.
On June 24, 1983, Diana married McLouvie Lee Jones at St. James Church in Chicago Heights, Illinois, beginning a loving partnership that lasted until his passing. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) until her retirement in 2004, dedicating herself to caring for others.
Diana’s always stated that her greatest joy in life was watching her grandchildren grow and spending time with them whenever she could. Her family was everything to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom.
She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents, sister Cruzita Nino Rolf, and brothers Leandro Nino Jr. and Natividad Nino Sr. She is survived by her two daughters, Diana Leticia (husband David Alonzo Callwood) and Marlene Antionette (husband David Lewis), along with seven cherished grandchildren: Adjaytay, Ny’shia, Adora, Ay’iana, and Adeniké Callwood, and Vanessa and Nathaniel Lewis. She is also survived by her brother Frank Nino Sr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU team at Memorial Hermann East Tower in Houston, Texas, for their dedication and care during her final days, ensuring she was comfortable and surrounded by compassion.
We love you, and we thank you for the countless lessons, memories, and love you've given us. Rest easy, Mama — we’ll take it from here.
