Delbert Channing Bradshaw was born in Gilmer, Texas, on November 5, 1941, to Delbert Herman and Ida Mary Darnell Bradshaw. He was raised with his siblings Tommie Jan, Jennye Anne, Ronald Scott and Lori Layne in the Houston area.
Chan served a mission in Argentina as an Elder for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and earned a degree at Brigham Young University. While attending law school at the University of Houston , Chan met Charlotte Marie Wallace, and they were sealed together for time and all eternity on September 30, 1968. Together, they raised ten children - six boys and four girls.
Chan was licensed to practice law in 1969 in the State of Texas, and became Board Certified in the areas of both Criminal and Family Law. Chan was highly regarded in the legal community as an excellent attorney and zealous advocate. Most importantly, he was known as a man of the highest integrity.
Chan is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and his ten children: son, David Channing and wife JoLyn of Price, Utah; son, Chad Dwayne and wife Amy of Pearland, Texas; daughter, Sherry Renee Haworth and husband Scott of Moore, Oklahoma; son, Thomas Judson and wife Kyshana of Clear Lake, Texas; daughter Dana Marie Hoskins and husband Charles of League City, Texas; daughter Lori Lynette Carlson and husband J. R. of Lincoln, Nebraska; son Kevin Lindsey and wife Dora of Friendswood, Texas; daughter, Andra Elizabeth Sullivan of League City, Texas; son Joseph Philip and wife Cherise of League City, Texas; and son Jacob Daniel and wife Lexie of Friendswood, Texas. Chan’s parents, “Dude” and Ida, and siblings Tommie, Jennye, Lori and Ron, preceded him in death.
Chan lived his life in service to the Lord. He was a passionate advocate for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and served with all of his heart, might, mind and strength in each of his church assignments. He was dedicated to family history and missionary work. In the last several years of his life, he was richly blessed to serve alongside his eternal companion in the Presidency of the Houston Texas Temple, which provided him some of his richest blessings and experiences of his life.
Most of all, Chan loved spending time with his family, and he and Charlotte are proud and loving grandparents of twenty-eight grandchildren including, Darin, Emma, Katelyn, Thomas, Emily, Ashley, Alexandra, Aidan, Ethan, Elijah, Ella, Joseph, Shelby, Silas, Anders, Ada, William, Alice, Kylee, Kayden, Colton, Myleigh, Adelynn, Dominic and Charlotte.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Advantage Howard-Glendale Chapel 1015 Federal Road, Houston, Texas 77015.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 505 Deseret Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
