Dedrea Yvette Wilson Tisdel is the third daughter of Wesley and Joyce Wilson, born October 20, 1968. Dedrea grew up in Fifth Ward and attended school in the Houston Independent School District. She was baptized at Fontaine First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John H. Brown. While a member she attended Sunday School, BTU, Junior Mission and also sang in the Tiny Tots, Youth and Young Adult choirs. Dedrea later moved her membership to Spring Antioch Baptist Church under the spiritual leadership of Pastor, Eric A. Wilson, Sr. where she was a faithful member until her health deteriorated. As a member of SABC she served in several ministries, a Youth Matron, Women’s Ministry, Deaconess and Usher Board. Dedrea loved her church, Pastor and First Lady and didn’t mind letting you know it! On October 20, 1995 Dedrea married Akpaffiong “Pop” Tisdel, Sr. and to this union were born two sons; Akpaffiong “AJ” Mayen Tisdel, Jr. and Alijah “Big Lij” Micha Tisdel. Dedrea’s fight was a true inspiration to all that knew and loved her. She gained her wings on Sunday, September 2nd and is resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord.
