David Patrick Van Zandt, 29, of Missouri City, TX, died February 9, 2011, as he lost his battle with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. David was born May 17, 1981 in Houston, TX, the oldest son of Scott and Patti.
David graduated from Lawrence E. Elkins High School and went on to attend Texas A&M University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism along with a master's degree in student affairs. While in Aggieland, David was actively involved with MSC Hospitality as well as AOLP.
David's greatest passion in life was serving his Savior Jesus Christ. David served people well with his best friends through Houston's First Baptist Church. It was through this that David experienced his greatest joys in life.
David is survived by his grandfather Kenneth Van Zandt; parents Scott and Patti; brother Matthew; and sisters Julie and Robin. Also, he is survived by his aunts and uncles Doug O'Keefe, Nancy O'Keefe, Dennis O'Keefe, Judy Drexel, Terry O'Keefe, and Robert O'Keefe as well as their spouses; numerous cousins who meant so much to him. Lastly, survived by his best friend Chad Niemeyer.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3 until 6 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston. A celebration of David's life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Houston First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston.
