David Saldana Sanchez, Sr., born November 25, 1936 to Aniceto and Armada Sanchez in San Pablo, Texas, passed away February 1, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Felix Sanchez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elogia Quintero-Sanchez; sons, Gabriel Sanchez and wife, Monica, and David Sanchez Jr. and wife, Lucinda; daughter, Viola Lewis and husband, Ronnie; grandchildren, David Sanchez III, Eric Sanchez and wife, Alicia, Ronnie Joe Lewis, Tiffany Lewis, Elise Elogia Sanchez, Julia Joy Allison, Carina Sanchez, baby Gabriel Sanchez, Gabby, John, and Lewis Carreon, and Bianca Simpson; great-grandchildren, Carmela and Eric Sanchez Jr., Kai, Royce and Don Lewis, and Anthony and Malia Simpson; sisters, Sarah Velasquez, Eva Sanchez, Lilly Sanchez, Mercedes Sanchez, and Olga Sanchez; brother, Adan Sanchez, and numerous other family and friends.
Mr. Sanchez last worked for General Welding, and was a boxing coach for 23 years, training many boys and girls. He was a dedicated husband, Dad, and Grandpa, and was most proud of his family. Mr. Sanchez was well liked by everyone, and will be greatly missed.
