David Bertram Reider, 78, passed away, in Houston TX, on June 16th, 2021 with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Providence, RI on June 24, 1942, the son of William Frederic and Martha Jane (Breaden) Reider.
David grew up in Staten Island on the U.S. Quarantine Station. While in Staten Island, David earned Eagle Scout certification with Post 12 in June 1958. He graduated from West Mount High School in Montreal, Quebec Canada and attended Rutgers University in New Jersey. David worked for Mohawk Airlines before serving two tours with the US ARMY 101st, Airborne in Vietnam where he started as a 2nd Lieutenant, became a 1st Lieutenant, and then Captain. David was presented with the National Defense Service Medal upon his honorable discharge. After the war, he lived in New York City where he went back to work for Mohawk Airlines. During his time with the airlines, he lived in Burlington VT, Houston, Tx and Las Vegas, NV. He retired from US Airways in Las Vegas, NV after working for them for 33 years.
“No Sweat Dave” enjoyed travelling. David frequently attended the annual Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Cup Series event with his buddies in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beatrice and his stepchildren; David Brooks (Maritz) Cathy Brooks, all of Houston Tx. His Daughter, Laura McDonald and husband Jay of Burlington, VT; Sisters, Susan Grant and Karen Carden (Macky) niece Cindy, brother Dennis Reider (Louise) nieces Gwen and Abby. He leaves behind several grandchildren, Chris and Josh Brooks, Jack and Brett Williams, Isabella and Cailyn McDonald and his beloved dog Kayla. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jake Brooks.
The family will be holding a private inurnment at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to join us in remembrance on National Wreaths Across America Day, December 18, 2021.
