Darrel was born January 11, 1947 in Emporia, Kansas. During Darrel's childhood he and his family relocated to Puyallup, Washington. While there Darrel obtained his diploma from Puyallup High School. Darrel went on to attend Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs where he graduated with the pioneer class in 1970, receiving his Ministerial Associates Degree. Darrel then went on to pastor in North and South Dakota. After receiving his bachelor's degree from Mid-America Nazarene College, he attended Nazarene Theological Seminary for a year and then went into Christian Education. This took him to Cheyenne WY, Burley ID, and finally to Kent WA.
Darrel met Darlene in 1968 and they married a year and a half later in June 1969. They had two children, Darren Wayne in 1972 and Darla Alise in 1978. They settled in Kent, WA where they lived for 31 years. Darrel and his wife, Darlene retired to Houston, Texas in 2012. While in Houston Darrel enjoyed spending time in church activities where he served as online pastor. He also enjoyed participating in social activities at church and their apartment.
Darrel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene; children Darren - Roy, WA & Darla Ayala - Houston, TX; grandchildren Tayla Burnett - Wichita, KS, Corissa Ayala - Houston, TX, Kaleigh Krehbiel - Puyallup, WA , Josh Ayala, Jr - Houston, TX, Austin Krehbiel - Roy, WA, Myriana Ayala - Houston, TX, Aiden Ayala - Houston, TX; Great Grandchildren Evelynn Burnett - Wichita, KS, Dominic Agudelo - Houston, TX, Kain Campbell - Houston, TX. Daughter-in-law Stacy Krehbiel - Roy, WA & Son-in-law Josh Ayala Sr. - Houston, TX; siblings Gary Krehbiel - Orting, WA, Stephen Krehbiel _ Puyallup, WA and Janice Tillford - Spanaway, WA. We would like to give a special thank you to Dennee, Monica & Michael with Home Health Professionals. Thank you for always taking such good care of Darrel while he was in your care.
A celebration of life for Darrel will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Living Word Church of Nazarene, 16607 Clay Road, Houston, TX 77084. Out of respect for all attending we would like to ask everyone to please wear a mask to the memorial service. We will also be practicing social distancing when seating at the funeral.
