Daniel Joseph Avant, age 51, died in a car accident in Katy, Texas on June 22, 2012.
Dan’s greatest love was for his children and he was always involved in their church, school and extracurricular activities. His life was dramatically changed as a young man when he joined Alcoholics Anonymous; he achieved 26 years of sobriety and was instrumental in helping many others through a mentoring program. He was an active member at Grace Methodist Church.
Dan is survived by his children; Zachary Joseph Avant, age 19, Allison Danielle Avant, age 14, and their mother, Lolly Avant. Also, his mother Lynn Avant, his sister Sharon Renee Avant and her spouse Jo Esparza and their son Christopher Aguilar, a brother James Travis Avant. He was the most handsome and favorite stepson of Mario Robau and had two step brothers; Marion Luis Robau and Mario Rene Robau and wife Stephanie Robau. Dan believed in the practice of friends being the family we choose and he had a multitude of other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church at 2pm at 2655 S. Mason Rd. Katy, TX 77450.
