Cynthia Clementina Suerte, aged 48, of Houston, Texas, passed away on January 26, 2024, after a three-year-long courageous battle with Cholangiocarcinoma, commonly known as bile duct cancer.
Cynthia's journey began on March 7, 1975, in Mexico City, born to Leticia Iberri and Marcos Villalbazo. At the age of three, she moved to Guaymas, Sonora, and later, at 16, embarked on a new chapter in San Diego, California, with her devoted mother. Overcoming the initial language barrier, she graduated high school in 1994, a testament to her unwavering determination.
After graduation, Cynthia worked as a housekeeper, a job that sparked the flame of ambition within her. Fuelled by a passion for helping others, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, a goal she achieved with the unwavering support of her mother and then-boyfriend, Estanislao Lazo Suerte, who later became her husband on August 8, 2000.
Cynthia's path to nursing was no easy feat. She began as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, dedicating ten years to the profession. During this time, she embraced the joys of motherhood, proud to be the guiding light for her three princesses: Jocelyne Sophia Suerte, Valerie Suerte, and Camila Leticia Suerte.
As her daughters grew, Cynthia returned to nursing school, facing numerous challenges along the way. On May 10, 2019, she graduated from nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. She was extremely proud of herself for having accomplished her dreams and for serving as a display to her daughters that nothing is impossible with determination and resilience.
In January 2022, Cynthia had to bid farewell to her dream job, a heart-wrenching decision dictated by the side effects of her illness. Yet, she faced this adversity with grace, leaving behind lasting bonds with patients and friends who continued to uplift and support her through her battle with cancer.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her mother Leticia Iberri, grandfather Arturo Iberri, aunt Yolanda Iberri, and uncle Humberto Iberri. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 23 years, Estanislao Lazo Suerte Jr., her cherished daughters Jocelyne, Valerie, and Camila Suerte, as well as her father-in-law and loving siblings-in-law, Imelda, Elaine, Maritez, Ray, and Estanislao Sr. Suerte.
A service to celebrate Cynthia's remarkable life will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home on February 13, 2024, at 10 AM. In honoring Cynthia's wishes, the family kindly requests attendees to wear white or light colors, abstaining from black attire.
Cynthia's memory will forever be etched in our hearts—a testament to the indomitable spirit that taught us to cherish every moment and embrace life's challenges with courage and love.
