Native Born Houstonian, lived with his maternal grandparents in Louisiana for most of his high school years, came back to Houston and enlisted in the Navy during WWII, when they bombed Pearl Harbor.
Married Shirley Blackman in 1947, they made their home and settled on Gloger St. in 1950, and Had 4 wonderful Children.
Deborah, Diana, Donald and Denette, married and then they had 5 Grandchildren, as years went by family grew to 10 Great grandchildren, with addition expected in September and 1 Great-Great grandchild.
Ethyl Corporation was just opening, when he was hired and started in May 1952. He moved up the ladder to Forman, then retired in 1987, 35 years later.
His heart attack was at his retirement party in 1987, which lead to his heart transplant in 2000, thus he’s been a miracle for 13 wonderful years.
In 1997 they celebrated their Golden 50th anniversary.
In 2013, they celebrated their 66th anniversary, and then 4 days later was his eternal home coming celebration.
We are truly blessed to have been a part of his 86 wonderful years, and he always said “I’ve had a good life and wouldn’t have done anything different”.
