Cora Belle Moore Smith, 98, slipped away to be with Jesus November 6, 2010 from her home of 59 years. She was born to James Calvin Moore and Lou Ida Perry Moore on August 28, 1912. She is preceded in death by her son, Wilburn Wells. Cora is survived by her loving husband of 63 years who loved her dearly and always will, Leon Smith; son, Norman Wells; daughter, Sharon Roch and husband Dr. Lester Roch; 11 grandchildren, Dirk Terry, Jeff Wells, Darren Terry, Michelle Schirra, Nicole Raglin, Rochelle Roch-Skeele, Brandi Wells, Mandi Wells, Wendi Wells, Sterling Wells Ryan Wells; 11 great-grandchildren, Easton, Miles, Amanda, Savannah, Regan, Rhyse, Ryan, Kevin, Luke, Taylor, Avia; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cora taught ESL in night school in 1945 while she worked at The Houston Post. She was a wonderful homemaker and business woman. She helped with their businesses “Mr. Bigburger” and Leon Regency Shoe Stores owned by her and her husband, Leon. Most of all, she loved the Lord and going to church. Three weeks before her passing she was at church, all dressed up and wearing high heels. Her belief was to always “wear your best” to the house of God. She will be greatly missed. “In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but soon the rapture cometh, the chain will link again”. Visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 12, 2010 with her son-in-law Dr. Lester Roch officiating at Apostolic Tabernacle Church, 5547 Calvalcade, Houston, TX 77026. Interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
