Connie Jo Lankard Ory of Katy, Texas, age 70, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday June 2nd, 2012. She was born on May 23rd, 1942, to Annie Josephine and Preston A. Lankard. Connie grew up in Bay City, Texas, riding and showing horses, barrel racing and spending many days of her youth on the beaches of Matagorda Bay and the Melon Creek Ranch of Refugio, Texas. She loved books, reading and golf. Connie was a University of Texas Ex and Longhorn football fan, a patriot and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. As a sixth generation Texan, she was very active in the Daughters and had a great love of Texas history and all things Texas. In the D.R.T. Connie served as president of the Miss Ima Hogg Chapter, District VI Representative, member of the Board of Management and a member of the Alamo Committee. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Annie Josephine Lankard and Preston A. Lankard, her aunt, Thelma ‘Curly’ Ham, her uncle, Rusty Coward and cousin, David Coward. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Raymond E. Ory, sister, Eileen Moselle Stewart, daughters Michelle V. Corbin and Rachel Ory McGinn, son-in-law, Alan J. Corbin, grandchildren, Travis A. Corbin, Kelsey E. McGinn and Caroline V. Corbin, niece, Lisa Stewart Davidson, nephew, Michael Scott Stewart and great nieces, Connie Davidson, Marie Davidson and Mallory Stewart. Many will miss her infectious smile and her caring and thoughtful ways. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday June 7, 2012 at the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday June 8, 2012 at the St. Peters United Methodist Church 20775 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, Texas 77450. Interment will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
