Chong was born in Choognam, Korea on November 16, 1936.
Chong married his wife Jung Ja “Maria” on November 11, 1966 in Inchon, Korea. Chong and Jung Ja immigrated to Canada in 1967 and three years later moved to the United States in 1970. They became U.S. citizens in 1976. Upon getting settled in the U.S., Chong became founder and President of Parkhill Medical Lab. He would then go on to own and operate a wholesale and manufacturing business before finally retiring in 2014.
Chong is preceded in death by his father In Bae Kim and his mother Hong Yee Yoon. He is survived by his wife Maria, his sons; Michael and wife Lisa and Steve and wife Jane. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Brady, Dylan, Sydney, Grayson, and Jacob.
Chong enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and loved getting together over a Sunday meal. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, and for always putting others first before himself. Our family will always be blessed by his strength, wisdom and guidance.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 3 to 5pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery located at 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas. A funeral service will be held the following day Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home followed by committal in Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 11a.m.
