Charlotte Dorton passed away on May 21, 2019 in Georgetown, Texas, born in Garrett, Illinois on August 11, 1924, the only child of John and Marie Trummel. She is preceded in death by her husband William Dorton, loving companion Martin Hooks and daughter-in-law Lindy Dorton. She is survived by son John Trent Dorton, Rick and Kris Hooks, Kathy Demottier and Val Garza, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Tim and Margot Owens, Alex Owens, Allysen Hooks, Rob and Haley Follet, Melissa and Austin Demottier, and Jemery Adams.
Charlotte was a business woman ahead of her time. She had a long, successful career working her way up in the electrical industry. She worked for Phelps Dodge Copper Products in Houston as Warehouse and Office Manager for a total of 31 years. After retiring from Phelps Dodge, Charlotte continued to work for 5 more years for Hi Tech Cable.
Charlotte was an active member of St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church and later St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church. She was part of the United Methodist Women’s Organization, the Ladies Lydia Circle and enjoyed the Tuesday morning Ladies Bible Study.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Legacy at Georgetown Senior Living, Autumn Leaves of Georgetown Memory Care and Encompass Hospice for the care they gave Charlotte in the last years of her earthly life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Charlotte’s memory would be appreciated.
Visitation began at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston, Texas. Interment followed at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, also in Houston.
