Charles Phineas Armstrong, age 20, left this world unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, the 31st of October 2017. Phinny was born on the 13th of November 1996, in Houston, Texas to Ardon Brown Armstrong and Tobin Armstrong, Jr., and was the brother of Sallie Matthews Armstrong and Tobin Armstrong, III.
Phinny attended T. H. Rogers School, where he enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and Home Run Hitters International. In February 2017, he was crowned King of the Home Run Hitters Coronation Court and Valentine’s Dance at school. Friends and family enjoyed making Candy Christmas Trees each year in honor of Phinny for Teacher Appreciation Week at Rogers.
Throughout his life, Phinny loved music and brought extraordinary joy to all around him with his ready laugh and cheerful disposition. The family is especially grateful to everyone in Phinny’s T. H. Rogers Family and his special friends who were so devoted to him: Alexis Davis, Monica Glaude, Maggie Hughes, Earline Martin, and the Medellin family.
Phinny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tobin Armstrong and Anne Armstrong. He is survived by his parents, brother and sister; grandparents Susan Judd and Joseph C. Brown; and his aunts, uncles and cousins: Christy and Matthews Brown (Courtney and Chad Snyder, Lauren and Ryon Stewart, Macy and Joseph Wesley Brown), Rebecca and Thad Hutcheson,(Courtney and Curtis Hutcheson, Genevieve and Keen Butcher), Georgia and John Brown (Hannah Herzog, Berkeley Brown, William Brown, Molly and Oliver Herzog, Rita Herzog), Nancy and Barclay Armstrong (John Armstrong, Alston Armstrong, Judd Armstrong), Katharine and Ben Love (Anne Idsal, Karsten Idsal, Barclay Idsal), Sarita and Robert Hixon (Elaine and Gideon Hixon, Patti and Alex Hixon, Lauren and Tom Hixon, Tobin Hixon) and Lucy and James Armstrong.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Phinny from twelve o’clock noon until two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 3rd of November 2017, in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
At a later date, the family will gather for a private interment at Reynolds Bend, Lambshead Ranch in Albany, Texas.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Home Run Hitters, International, a non-profit, whose goal is to provide increased opportunities and fun interactions for individuals who have disabilities at http://www.homerunhitters.org or Attn: Financial Officer, P. O. Box 682861, Houston, TX 77268.
