Charlene Mary (Beyer) Shimek.
She was born on December 19, 1947 in Needville, TX to Charles and Stazie (Rehak) Beyer. Her family moved to Moulton, TX when she was in junior high and she graduated from Moulton High School.
After graduation and marriage, she moved to Houston, TX and was a homemaker until her children were grown. After which time, she worked in multiple church nurseries in the Houston area. She devoted over 30 years to loving and nurturing numerous babies, toddlers, and preschoolers at Cypress Bible Church in Cypress, TX.
She married her beloved husband, Werner, on July 8, 1967 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton, TX. Formerly, she was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Houston, TX and was a current member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Tomball, TX.
Charlene was a dedicated and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed reading daily from God’s Word and prayer devotionals. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family as well as going on daily walks with friends. The days in her life that she cherished most were her wedding day, and the births of her 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her father-Charles (Charlie) Beyer; mother-Stazie (Rehak) Beyer; brother-Harvey Beyer; son-Ronald Shimek, Sr.; and daughter-Melissa Shimek.
She is survived by her husband-Werner Shimek; son-Wayne (Tracy) Shimek; daughter-Jennifer (Steve) Dunn; son-Kenneth (Nelly) Shimek; grandchildren-Kayla (Mitchell) Halstead; Preston Shimek; Ronald Shimek, Jr.; Madeline Shimek; Scotty Shimek; Sophia Shimek; and great-grandson-Hunter Halstead; brother-Leslie (Joyce) Beyer, Sr.; nephew-Leslie Beyer, Jr.; niece-Celeste (Aubrey) Stewart; and grandniece-Lauren (David) Lumert; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and extended Shimek family.
Serving as pallbearers are: Wayne Shimek, Preston Shimek, Steve Dunn, and Leslie Beyer, Jr.; with honorary pallbearers: Kenneth Shimek, Ronald Shimek, Jr., Scotty Shimek, Mitchell Halstead, and Hunter Halstead.
A visitation/luncheon for Charlene will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Prayer/Rosary service to follow from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 19222 Tomball Pkwy, Houston, TX 77070.
Following mass, a short graveside service will be held at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060 on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 12:00pm.
Family and friends are invited to gather inside the funeral home following the graveside service for a luncheon on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Compassus Hospice of Houston, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Samaritan’sPurse.org.
