Mother Carolyn Jean Williams Richardson, 2nd oldest of 4 daughters, was born to the union of Tince and Helen Atmore Williams on September 16, 1942, in Crockett, Texas. She grew up in the Church of God in Christ in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana.
Mother Carolyn Richardson graduated from Carver High School in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, in May 1960. She furthered her education by attending Natchitoches Beauty School, where she became a Licensed Beautician in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana.
She was blessed to meet the young man of her dreams, her “Sweetheart” Mertha Richardson, who was from a Christian family. They were engaged on Christmas Day, December 25, 1965, and were later married at the Taylor Chapel Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, on April 10, 1966. Following their marriage, they moved into their home that her husband and children shared for 57yrs on January 27, 1967.
After their marriage, Mother Carolyn Richardson and Mertha Richardson continued their careers. She proceeded with her career of being a Licensed beautician. Mother Carolyn later found two jobs of her dreams, where she worked for 30yrs and retired. The first job was at Hair Masters, and the last was at Urban Retreat, where she retired. She was everyone’s mother.
As she continued her journey with her husband, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter and three handsome sons. Mother Carolyn Richardson, Mertha Richardson, and children joined their church home, Emmanuel COGIC, where she became a beautiful Sunday teacher whom everyone enjoyed, loved and learned so much from. Later, she and the family joined Little York COGIC, where she started her project that has helped so many children and young people. The Scholarship fund is something she created, loved, and enjoyed doing to help as many people as she could.
Mother Carolyn Richardson was a wise spiritual, loving, beautiful, caring person who worked day and night making family and friends count. She enjoyed so many things she accomplished throughout her years, such as cooking, baking, crafting, and doing different projects for reunions, parties, and church functions. In addition, Mother Carolyn did anything she could to lend a helping hand to everyone. And most of all, she was best known for her famous baskets that made many happy.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, Mother Carolyn Richardson faced the sunset of her earthly days and entered victoriously into her sweet rest, joining her precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in eternity. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tince and Helen Williams, two sisters Helen Marie Williams, and Clary Delores James, and her one brother Travis Williams. Her memories will be forever cherished by her loving husband of 57years Mertha Richardson, her one daughter LaShundra Richardson and, three sons, Matthew Richardson, Murphy Jr., and Reggie Richardson, one Daughter in Law MiMi Richardson, four grandchildren, Nicholas Kentrell Richardson, Zachary Aaron Lorenzo Richardson, Azuree Shawnise Richardson, and Matthew Richardson Jr., three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Kaori, and Kai Richardson, one sister Ada Williams Steward of Shreveport Louisiana, two God daughters Tonya Rochelle Cole Young, Acquanita Earnest, and a host of nieces and nephews, Godchildren, cousins, and family members, and her loving spiritual family Emmanuel Church Of God In Christ.
