Carole Ann Peavy Marsh, 87, of Houston, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021. Carole was born in Dallas, Texas, on April 17, 1934, to Thomas and Clarissa Peavy. She married Baxter Dorel Marsh in Junction City, Kansas, in 1953, and remained married until his death in 2005.
Baxter served in the Army ROTC, U.S. Army reserve and U.S. Army from 1953 to 1969, with postings in Germany, Maryland, Washington state, Texas, Korea and New Jersey. During this period as an Army wife, Carole gave birth to two sons in Texas, another in New Jersey and a daughter in Maryland.
In 1969, Carole and Baxter decided to return to Houston, birthplace of their first son, to begin their civilian life. Carole worked in several jobs before beginning what became a 20-year career as a service representative and fraud investigator with Southwestern Bell. After retirement, she enjoyed being in the company of her growing family as grandmother and then great-grandmother.
Carole was preceded in death by husband Baxter. She is survived by daughter Robin Schaefer and her husband Thomas, son Ted Marsh and his wife Kary, and sons Tom and Bill, along with grandchildren Alan, Todd, Tommy, Andy, Ashley, Matthew and Sarah, and great-grandchildren Jillian, Aubry, Tobin, Sadie, Baxter and Dylan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A visitation for Carole will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A committal service will occur Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Mermorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
