Carol Anne Strickland, 71, of Houston, Texas, daughter of Frederick and Dorothy Baumgartner, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2013. Born on May 28, 1942, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Strickland and two daughters, Rachel Strickland and Allison Strickland. Anne graduated in 1960 from Nacogdoches High School where she was voted wittiest by her classmates. She then graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in History. She began working at MD Anderson in 1973 and stayed there until her passing. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Nicole Strickland of Cypress, TX, and three grandchildren, Shelby Strickland, Taylor Strickland, and Greyson Strickland. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Lynn Grantham and Dr. Lex Grantham. She is remembered and loved deeply by her lifelong girlfriends, “The Coquettes”. A Celebration Gathering for Anne will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013, 11am at Backstreet Café, 1103 S. Shepherd Dr., Houston, Texas 77019. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to MD Anderson.
