Bobbie was born in Levy, Arkansas on May 16, 1931, daughter of the late Paul E. Warnell and late Ruby N. Warnell. Bobbie is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Raymond F. Cox, whom she married August 29, 1957. She is survived by her her children and their families. Son, W. Robert Cox and wife, Sharon; and their children, Nicole Orner and husband, Brian Orner; Ashley Cox, MD and husband, Erik Srnka; Randy Morrison and wife, Megan Morrison; and Brooke Cox. Son, Donald J. Cox and wife, Colette; and their children, Donovan Cox and wife, Michelle Cox; Crystal Koza and husband, Joseph Koza, MD; Madelaine Cox, and Donald J. Cox, Jr. Stepson, Douglas R. Cox and wife, Jane. She had fourteen great-grandchildren to love.
Bobbie graduated from Reagan High School and received a diploma in Secretarial Studies from Elliott Business Colleges. Bobbie went on to work as a secretary for Alcoa Aluminum. She and her late-husband, Ray, retired to Lake Livingston in 1982 and enjoyed time out on the lake, working in their garden, and sitting on the porch that overlooks the lake. Prior to retirement, they lived in the Forest Cove area of Kingwood and would frequently receive awards for their yard, and it was here that she joined her first garden club.
Bobbie was a well-loved member of Livingston First United Methodist Church and the Polk County Garden Club, where she served two terms as President and earned the title of “Distinguished Gardener”. In March of 1998, she earned the title of “Texas Master Gardener”. Bobbie was also a member of the Wine Sippers, worked by serving food during Wednesday Night Fellowship Dinners, and was a volunteer at the ManniFest Food Pantry. Bobbie loved to travel with friends and family, and had a passion for gardening and playing bridge. Bobbie lived life the way she wanted and to the fullest; she also lived it with elegance, grace, and strength. To love and to know her was truly an honor.
Bobbie Cox, matriarch of the Cox family, Granny to all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, mother to her sons, will be missed by her family; yet we rejoice in her reunion with her parents and beloved husband. The funeral service is being held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:30AM with viewing beginning at 10:00AM, at Livingston First United Methodist Church, 2801 US-190, Livingston, Texas 77351, with internment following at 2:30PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, Texas 77039.
