Billy passed peacefully on the afternoon of Sept 14, 2015. He was a gentle soul and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was honest and loyal to a fault and showed unconditional love for those closest to him. He was an avid reader and enjoyed a good movie.
Billy “Bill” was born in Houston on December 8, 1944, the sixth child to Holman K & Hazel Elizabeth (Wilson) Webster. He grew up in the Heights and Oak Forest, attending Waltrip HS. After HS he joined the Air Force, serving in CA, Guam and Thailand before discharge in 1969. He then married Joycelyn Howard and they had 3 children. He worked in the oil industry until his retirement in 2011.
Bill will be remembered for his story telling, in which he chronicled his childhood antics, military service and times of living abroad in Canada and Australia. He will perhaps be best remembered for his trademark cigars, which were often a source for conversation. He never met a stranger and made many, many friends along the way.
Bill was known as “Pop” to all seven of his grandchildren. He loved them dearly and took every chance he had to spend time with each of them. The kids will deeply miss their Pop as he always filled them with laughter and kindness.
Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Joycelyn Webster. Children; Andrew, Amie Ford (Matt), Ashley Gibbs (Jessie), his beloved grandchildren, Kaitlin, Brandon, Bryan, Brody, Ethan, Ian and Brayden; brothers Connor and Stuart Webster; sister Patsy Moy and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also remembering Bill is Joycelyn’s mom, Joyce Mayes, brothers Doug Howard (Jane) and Stephen Howard, sister Cheryl Howard (Kendra) and their children.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sheri Avery Webster and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Pat H. Foley & Company. Interment will be held at 9:45am, Monday, September 21, 2015 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston 77038.
