Billy Jack Vicic Sr., 67, passed away September 2, 2023. He was born October 11,1955 in Dallas Texas. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Christine Vicic. He is survived by his sons and daughter: Billy Jr, Luke, Michael, Jack, and Melanie, daughters in law Julie and Clessie, grandsons Jackson and Harrison, and a wealth of friends.
After graduating from Westbury High School in Houston, Billy enrolled in the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and majored in Business. He remained a member of the Alumni Association until his death. Following college, he entered the business world where he had a long career in personal and commercial insurance. In the beginning, he helped build Advantage Insurance alongside his father. He later founded Blackstone Insurance where he served his clients faithfully until his death.
More than anything, Billy was known for being a loyal friend and loving father. His friends know him as a born storyteller and the one most likely to have you doubled over in laughter. He loved raising hell on the golf course, cracking jokes in a hunting blind, and drinking whiskey in the West Bay with his family.
Billy V had a lust for life that was infectious. He was the kind of guy who collected surrogate children and wayward friends. He was as likely to bail you out of jail as he was to sponsor you for a country club membership. If you served him drinks for too long, you might end up with a used car. He treated his dogs like members of the royal family and they treated him like their one true god. No matter your relation, it was likely you found his laughter to be a drug. Your friendship was his end of the bargain.
He survived catastrophic heart failure on December 25th, 2018 in what would have killed 99% of people. Dubbed “The Christmas Miracle” by hospital and rehab staff, he battled back to have a fine quality of life for his remaining years. Those years provided many bright spots like going to Astros games with his family and friends, seeing his daughter graduate, and experiencing his grandsons’ playing sports and heading off to college. Still, there were many hardships involved as well, and his day-to-day life could be grueling. In the end, surrounded by his children, he greeted death as a friend.
