Beverly Jo Powell, 90, walked through the Gates of Heaven beautifully and peacefully on March 11, 2018 eternally healed from her long battle of health problems. She was born April 15, 1927 in Callaham, Texas to Jessie Amanda Farley Davis and William Aaron Davis.
Beverly Jo was a very active "lady" all her life. Did we mention she loved to talk! She is survived by four children and their spouses, Harold and Cherwyn Powell, Russell and Karen Powell, Glenda and Randy Gregorcyk and Marlene and Steve King. She has ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Beverly Jo was active in the Girl Scouts of America for 27 years. She loved camping and working with the girls. She was involved as a Room Mother and PTO member for all her children. She belonged to the Airline Methodist Church in Houston for 45 years, teaching Kindergarten thru High School. Was active in The Women’s Society of Christian Services. She never turned down a job that needed to done, always ready to help. After her husband died, she moved to Bandera, Texas to be near her brother Glenn Thomas “Hump” Davis. She was a member of The Fine Arts Club and a member of Bandera United Methodist Church for 19 years.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Ray Powell Sr., brother Glenn Thomas “Hump” Davis and grandson, Russell G. Powell.
Services will be at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Family will receive family and friends on Friday, March 16, 2018 for visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow.
