Betty was the true matriarch of the entire family unit. Betty brought so much love and light into everyone she encountered. Betty was known to all as the kindest most loving and giving mother, wife, aunt, Boopie/grandmother, friend you could imagine. There was no end to Betty’s unending love and giving to others anything she had in her heart. Betty grew up in Oklahoma and was the brightest in her class of only 26 students in 1956 in Davenport, Oklahoma. She was the captain of her basketball team and very involved in her schooling. Betty worked for POGO Producing Co. for approximately 26 years and retired in 2007 when the company closed. Betty loved her poodles and one in particular named Peppy. Betty met the love of her life, Dr. Daniel Edgar Hanby in 1982 and they married in 1983 on the Tall Ship- Elissa ship in Galveston, TX. They had so much fun together with our dads broken sailboats, treasure from thrift village, out of control bird dogs and trips that were always “an adventure.” Betty loved and guided our father and all of his dreams and ambitions. Betty also had numerous grandchildren and one great grandson whom she loved with all of her heart. Her grandchildren meant the world to her as did all of her nieces and nephews, sisters, brother and extended family.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge Dr. Diane C. Bodurka, who was Betty’s doctor for over 25 years and did amazing things for Betty with treatments and care over the years that gave many added years to Betty’s life.
