BEATRICE ROJAS was born on November 15, 1925 in Rosenberg, Texas and left us on October 6, 2018 in Pasadena, Texas. Preceding her in death is her husband, Martin V. Rojas, to whom she was married to for 64 years. Having been the last of her generation, she is predeceased by her sisters, Benita Rios, Victoria Gallardo and brother, Tirzo Valdez.
Beatrice Rojas leaves behind her daughter, Josie Lightfoot, sons Jesse Rojas (Mary Carmen), and John Rojas. Beatrice also leaves 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren to cherish her memory.
She was the first of her generation to accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and used her new life in Christ to serve others. This is her greatest legacy which continues to live within her family and the many lives she touched.
Beatrice had an inner strength, persistence and a desire to work with her husband to provide a better life for their family. When her husband wouldn’t teach her to drive, she taught herself by driving his truck back and forth in the driveway. Eventually she was able to safely drive around the neighborhood. This simple accomplishment was the foundation for what was to come. Beatrice and Martin started a school bus business which took children to and from John R. Harris Elementary School. As the years and hard work continued, the Rojas School Bus grew to 5 busses which carried hundreds of students to schools for 30 years.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 11, at 5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home Lawndale.
