Basil Leroy Pollard, beloved husband, father, educator, and enthusiast of life’s many pleasures, peacefully departed from this world on the 26th of May, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on the 26th of February, 1955, in Los Angeles, California, Basil’s journey was one marked by love, learning, and laughter.
Basil’s educational pursuits led him through the halls of Jarvis Christian College, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, before continuing his studies at Texas Southern University, focusing on Biology with an emphasis on food nutrition. His dedication to knowledge and nurturing young minds defined his career as an educator, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Basil found joy in a myriad of hobbies. A culinary artist, skilled mixologist, talented musician, and connoisseur of horror cinema, he possessed a voracious appetite for life’s pleasures. An avid reader and artist, his creativity knew no bounds.
Basil’s legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Cynthia Kay Wright-Pollard, and their children: Beonca Hames Pollard, Kirby Jhnon Pollard-Dillard (Tyrone), Basil Leroy Pollard Jr., and grandchildren (Cyni’A, Brook, and Chase). He is fondly remembered by a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Batiste “Sunny” Hames and Etta Mae Lewis, as well as his stepfather, Perry Pollard. Basil Leroy Pollard’s vibrant spirit, wisdom, and love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he has departed from this world, his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Funeral services for Basil will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
