Barnett Rhinehart, age 79, of Houston, Texas passed away on Tuesday May 19, 2020. Barnett was born July 3, 1940 in Hiawassee, Ga. A son of the late Victor Rhinehart, and Ruby Burch Rhinehart. Barnett Rhinehart was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth E. Rhinehart, his brothers M.L. Rhinehart, Gus Rhinehart, and Randall Rhinehart.
Barnett Rhinehart is survived by two sisters: Janis Mooney, Rome and Ruth Dunn, Aragon; and a brother, John Rhinehart, Powder Springs, one daughter Brigitte Rhinehart Day, and 3 sons, Ronald Rhinehart, Robert Rhinehart, and William Rhinehart, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
He served in the United States Amy for 26 years, including 1 tour in Vietnam where he received 2 purple hearts. He also served several tours in Germany and the Canal Zone in Panama. SFC Barnett Rhinehart retired with honors in 1983. Following his military retirement he spent much of the time working as an interstate truck driver, which he enjoyed very much. He also enjoyed professional wrestling, fishing, and hunting.
American Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Barnett Rhinehart. Mr. Rhinehart will be laid to rest with is wife Elizabeth on June 2nd 2020 at the Houston National Cemetery 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX at SECTION U SITE 965. There will be a streaming video of the funeral for those who wish to view the ceremony.
