Augusta Doretta Schuller Adams, “Boots”, age 82, passed away, Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was a proud Girl Scouts leader who led two generations of girls from Brownies to Seniors. A member of the Melrose Park Civic Club, she served in various leadership positions including President for several years. She logged innumerable hours of service in the neighborhood watch, manning the radio when not actually patrolling the neighborhood. She worked tirelessly for the renovation of Melrose Park. A Little League mom, she could serve up hamburgers to the winning team faster than anyone. Boots hosted the local National Night Out events for many years, including hotdogs for everyone and an antique fire truck. She was an active member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and volunteered countless hours in the church food pantry. She was recognized for dedication and service to the Northline Park Community, at the Northline Park Community Station by Houston Police Chief Clarence Bradford (1997).
She was preceded in death by brothers, Herman and Abe, and sisters, Marie, Alvie and Josephine. Survived by husband, James W. Adams; son, Richard A. Adams, Martinsville, Virginia, daughter, Jan M. Adams, Spring, Texas; grandson, Philip J. Adams, Cambridge Massachusetts; granddaughter, Kari R. Adams, New York City, New York; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven, with Pastor Lawrence Kelm, officiating. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery. The family would like to thank Boots’ long-time care giver, Rosario Martinez, and the staff of Kindred Spring Hospital for their attentive care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider giving to the Girl Scouts or a charity of your choice.
