It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio Garza, Sr. on September 12, 2017. After a valiant battle with colon cancer and Parkinson’s disease, at the age of 82 he was called to the Lord with his family at his side. Antonio “Tony” Garza was the most loving husband, father, brother, friend and grandfather and will be remembered for his love by all whom he touched. Tony was born in Harlingen, TX on May 18, 1935 to his parent’s Rodolfo Garza and Santos G. Briones. After meeting the love of his life, Graciela, he moved to Oceanside, CA and then to Houston, Texas in October 1979. Tony served in the Air Force for two years. He loved boxing, watching sports, and mostly spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Graciela Garza, his daughter and son in law Teresa Garza and Ali Romozi, and his step daughters Graciela Guay, Guadalupe Sweat, and Veronica Pena and his siblings Teresa Navarro, Alicia Martinez, Ninfa Maria Porras, Corinna Rios, and Moises Briones. Tony “Abuelo” will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Sonia Fortner, Priscilla Thornton, Tony Garza, Vanessa Garza-Miranda, and his great grandchildren Andres Rodriguez, Ernesto Rodriguez, Mariah Fortner, Joseph Rodriguez, and Gracie Thornton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 3:00 pm- 7:00 pm at Brookside Funeral home 9149 Highway 6 North Houston, TX 77095.Funeral services and interment will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Memorial Oaks Cemetery 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, TX 77079. Reception to follow after.
