Anthony Roy Grace, a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather went home to glory on Thursday April 29, 2021 in Houston, TX at the age of 85. He was born on March 17,1936 in Oakdale, Louisiana to James Grace and Ethel Lee Sweetman. Anthony was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Allen High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge La.
He married Ruby Mae Kenney in October 1963. To this union he was blessed with 5 children. The first two daughters were a bonus. Anthony’s love stretched beyond his family. He would go out of his way to support those who needed help any time of day or night.
Anthony loved music and enjoyed working with his hands. While living in Oakdale, Louisiana, his careers included an educator of Social Studies, a Band Director as well as an Electrician. In 1969, he moved to Houston, TX and continued to build his career as an Electrician until his retirement at age 65. He was ordained as a Deacon at Israelite Baptist Church in 1967 as well as the musician for the church. After moving to Houston in 1969, he joined Greater Mt. Nebo M.B.C where he served as a faithful Deacon, musician, and member until his earthly departure.
Anthony joined the electrical union of IBEW Local 716 and was a lifelong member in Houston. His enjoyments in life were teaching and entertaining. He enjoyed making people smile by telling funny stories and silly jokes. He was instrumental in the completion of many landmark buildings in the Houston Area. In 1983 and 1984 he was able to use his skills as an electrician to help complete the church building of Greater Mt. Nebo M.B.C. The musical skills have been passed down to other generation keeping the love of creativity and entertainment alive.
He is preceded in death by his parents James Grace, Ethel Lee Grace, daughter Theresa Kenney. He leaves to celebrate his life, wife Ruby Mae Kenney Grace, brother Cornelius (Delores), sisters, Juanita (Thomas Sr.), Orelia (Ollis), son Anthony L. Grace “Tony”, daughters Bonnie (Vernon), Lorenda (Akinyemi), Demetria (Kerry). Grandchildren, Bonetta, Tobarick, Aaron (Angelica), Kerry, Adrian (Jenny), Atara, Shalom. Great-Grand Children Bless’ed, Braylon, Tobarick Jr., Tyrek, Tiara, Arianna, Adalyn, and Aiden. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
