Annie confessed her faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. She became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Victor Jacob, located in the Acres Home Community. She was a faithful and dedicated worker in the house of the Lord. Annie was a member of the Senior Choir and served on the Usher Board for many years.
Annie attended Highland Heights Elementary School, Harper Middle School and graduated in 1956 from G.W. Carver High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1966 and a master’s degree in 1968 from Prairie View A & M University. Annie taught in Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District for thirty eight years until retirement.
Annie married Waymon U. Wesley on September 26, 1959, to which this union two children were born Kayren Ann and Waymon Lydell Wesley.
God called Annie home on July 24, 2020 where she peacefully transitioned into His Kingdom. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Phoebe Hartwell Knowles; brother, Rev. Joseph R. Knowles Jr.; sister, Dorothy M. Knowles Navy; sister, Louberta Jimmie Knowles Williams; sister-in-law, Janet Griffin Knowles.
Annie leaves to cherish her loving memories; her husband, Waymon Wesley; her daughter, Kayren Wesley Peavy(Darrell); her son, Waymon Lydell(Patricia); grandchildren, Allen Peavy, Trey Wesley, Brent Peavy(Natalie), Cameron Peavy(Marlena); great grandson, Asiah Peavy; brother, Langston G. Knowles; sisters, Lelia Knowles-Calhoun(Lonnie); Loyce Knowles-Kelly; sister-in-law, Ethel Brown Knowles. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
