Annie Waldon was born on October 23, 1932 in Marshall, Texas, and moved with her parents at the age of three to Houston, Texas. Annie had 3 brothers and one step sister. She grew up in Houston and met and married Bobby Matthews at the age of 16.
She and Bobby spent two years together before beginning their family. They had 5 children - 3 boys and 2 girls. Over the years they attended several Baptist churches, but spent the majority of their time serving at Grace Missionary Baptist, when they relocated to the Aldine area of North Houston. Annie played both the piano and organ and often played for the church services. She also sang in a duet with her husband and other ensembles in their choir. One of their favorites to sing was a song entitled “Built By the Hand of the Lord”.
Annie liked to spend her time sewing, painting, knitting, crocheting and doll making. She also liked to work outside in their vegetable and rose gardens. When Bobby retired they moved to Zavalla, Texas where they became members of Lakewood Baptist Church. They worshipped and served there until illnesses forced them into moving to Magnolia to be closer to their children. She and Bobby lived in Magnolia for 4 and ½ years until they moved to Tomball, TX to live in assisted living. Annie and Bobby lived there until their deaths.
Annie went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2016.
