Anna Lou to some and Anna to more recent friends was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nannie Lou to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made friends everywhere she went and always made people around her laugh.
Anna was active in the life of the church at Garden Oaks Baptist Church from 1942 – 2016. After moving to Montgomery in 2016, she became an active member of The Church At Woodforest. Anna Lou and Ned were members and very involved in the Oak Forest Lions Club and The Horseless Carriage Club for a number of years. Being married to an antique car enthusiast, she had her own 1929 Model A, painted lavender and the family enjoyed many fun outings together with the old cars. Anna, Ned, along with kids and grandkids enjoyed many good times fishing, crabbing, skiing and entertaining at the bay house on Chocolate Bayou. It was a very special place that was near and dear to her heart. In recent years, she was an avid Astros fan and planned her day around watching the games. She enjoyed keeping up with the players and the game scores.
Once her children were grown, Anna went to work as a temp at Kroger Bakery Offices and ended up retiring from Kroger after 18 years. She loved to cook, entertain, play cards and dominoes, and do any kind of handwork and crafts.
Anna is survived by her daughter and husband Tommie and Tom Sheppard; grandchildren Mandie Hill and her husband Jason of Phoenix,AZ Blake Sheppard and Brandon Sheppard of Conroe, plus 5 great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends.
